KCAP
Knox County Area Project
Life Skills Education Offered in partnership with area schools.

CPR training with Certified American Red Cross instructors. Offered to High School students.
Basic Aid Training (BAT) offered to students in 4th grade.
Home Alone training targeted to 3rd graders.
Homework Help for students in 1st-5th grade organized at schools and churches by local community committees.
Outdoor Education in partnership with the Knox County Regional Office of Education for 5th graders.
Monarch Watch- Butterfly presentation for elementary and Jr High students.

Summer Program
Water Safety Instruction (with six levels of skill instruction)
These lessons are taught at the Galesburg Hawthorne Pool for children who have completed kindergarten and have not yet entered 9th grade.
The American Red Cross skill levels are taught in a lesson format of nine 50 minute lessons over the course of three weeks.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The three week sessions for 2008 are
Session 1: June 9- 27, 2008
Session 2: July 7-25, 2008
Session 3: July 28- August 15, 2008

Family Recreation
Disc Golf Equipment Check Out- available at the KCAP Office (109 S. Cherry St., Galesburg)
Roller Skating Parties- Sponsored and organized by the local community committees.
Swimming Parties- sponsored and organized by the local community committees.
Swim & Gym Activity Days held at Hawthorne Pool and Gym on some school holidays.
Family Movies- An annual family event planned for a winter Saturday at the Orpheum Theatre in Galesburg. Contact the KCAP office to obtain tickets.
